Lucie St. George
Lucie Swigart St. George looks forward to serving on the Special Needs Advocacy Network board. I've been an active member since completing my FCSN Advocacy Training in 2013. I bring a lifetime centered on education, with experience from Pre-School to High School age in Public/Private, Urban/Suburban schools, and servicing a variety of cultural and economic backgrounds. I began in the trenches as an inner city special education teacher where I often found myself my students' biggest advocate, balancing my life with continued education in an Intercultural Relations Master's degree program to better serve them. I stepped out of the trenches to raise 3 children and found a life of volunteerism in the community and my children's schools. During this time, I experienced both the struggles and the joys of parenting and advocating for my own child's needs and consequently, the needs of other family members' and friends' children. After 4 years of resurrecting, and then chairing our town's SEPAC, I devoted 6 more years as a School Committee member, advocating for all students! Currently, I'm continuing to volunteer in my community and working on growing my own Advocacy business.
Lucie St. George is a Special Education Advocate for students as a Parent/Family Consultant, with FCSN, Wrightslaw, and COPAA trainings. Lucie has significant experience on all sides of the table as a former Special Education teacher, tutor, parent, former SEPAC President, and School Committee Chair. Her services include: attending IEP/504 meetings, helping de-mystify basic rights & the IEP process, reviewing IEPs, testing & other assessments, and strategizing on next steps. She passionately advises, educates and empowers families through a respectful, collaborative process.
