About
Providing educational guidance with experience, empathy, and expertise.
No one knows your child like you do. However, when your child is struggling at school, understanding your rights and knowing how to proceed can be a difficult journey to embark on alone.
Through a child-centered, collaborative approach, my goal is to help families feel confident as vital members of their child’s educational team. I support families in understanding the special education process and guide them in effectively advocating for their child’s unique needs.
I have over 20 years of experience as a special educator and Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) in both public and private school settings with individuals aged 3 to 22. I have sat on both sides of the IEP table - as a staff member, as well as a sister and a mother. I understand first-hand what a difficult and all-consuming experience it can be. Because of my professional and personal experiences, I offer both a high level of expertise, as well as a deep understanding of the families I support.
I have extensive knowledge of the special education process - including state and federal law and procedural safeguards. I am adept at conducting and interpreting assessments, developing individualized education programs (IEPs), progress monitoring, and data-based decision making.
Throughout my career, I have helped other professionals understand each child’s unique educational needs, the “why” behind their behaviors, and what programming is needed for them to be successful. My work encompasses neurodiversity affirming and trauma-informed practices and aims to support the well-being of the whole-child.
I am dedicated to helping families navigate the special education process and make informed decisions about their child’s education. I strive to give each family the specialized support they need, and to advocate for their child as I would my own.
