Executive Functioning Across the Levels: Supporting Students Through Key Transitions

Friday, August 22, 2025 (10:00 AM - 12:30 PM) (EDT)

Description

As students grow, the demands on their executive functioning skills grow with them. These essential "soft skills"—like organization, time management, and task initiation—are critical for success in school, yet they’re often overlooked or assumed to develop on their own. For students with disabilities such as ADHD, Dyslexia, and Autism, the need for direct, explicit instruction in these areas is even greater.

This webinar is designed for parents and special education advocates who want to better understand how executive functioning challenges show up at different stages of a student's academic journey—from elementary to middle school, middle to high school, and high school to college.

You’ll learn:

  • What executive functioning skills are and how they evolve across grade levels

  • Common challenges faced by students with disabilities during academic transitions

  • What types of goals, accommodations, and specialized instruction are appropriate at each level

  • How to determine if a student is making effective progress and moving toward greater independence

  • Practical strategies to advocate for executive functioning support in IEPs and 504 plans

Whether you're navigating your child’s current transition or planning for what's next, this session will equip you with tools to better support and advocate for their needs.
