Transition to Adulthood: Voter Rights & Registration for Students with Disabilities 16+
Monday, October 20, 2025 (3:00 PM - 4:00 PM) (EDT)
Description
Young people and people with disabilities are powerful voices in our democracy, and voter registration should be part of every student’s transition plan. In Massachusetts, students can pre-register to vote starting at age 16 making registration a vital milestone in the move from school to adult life. This workshop will explore the rights of students and individuals with disabilities in the voting process, including accessible voting machines, the right to assistance, early voting, mail-in ballots, and creating a voting plan. We will highlight the importance of representation for youth with disabilities ages 18–25, share key Massachusetts election dates and actions, and provide strategies for ensuring every vote is counted. Participants will leave with practical knowledge and tools to advocate for voter rights education and registration as essential elements of transition planning.
