MA Protections: Racist Bullying

Thursday, November 3, 2022 (10:00 AM - 12:00 PM) (EDT)

Description

As reports of bias, bullying, and harassment based on race and ethnicity in schools continue to rise, MLRI, MAC and CfJJ are pleased to offer this opportunity to learn and engage.

The goal of this training series is to expand our ability to effectively represent families against and collectively respond to racial bullying.

Presenters will provide an overview of:

(1) anti-bullying and anti-discrimination laws,

(2) schools’ obligations to prevent and address hate and bias incidents;

(3) the grievance and complaint processes;

(4) best practices and strategies to improve schools’ responses to incidents of bias; and

(5) best practices and strategies to assist students experiencing racial bullying.

This second session will focus on Massachusetts specific protections against racist bullying.
