Dara D'Agostino
About
Dara D’Agostino, LCSW, has worked extensively with clients with Trauma/PTSD, ADHD, Anxiety, Depression, Borderline Personality Disorder, eating disorders, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. Her background is in trauma-informed therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Equine Assisted Therapy. She does not believe in a single modality approach; she specializes and tailors her approaches to each client.
Dara enjoys working with clients who are often deemed “challenging” and finds they are often the most rewarding to work with. Her passion is helping clients identify and use their skills to improve their lives. She worked as an executive functioning tutor online during the pandemic to help students struggling with executive dysfunction in the home. She is available both in-person and in telehealth. She treats preteens, teens, and adults.

Experience in Equine Assisted Therapy in a trauma informed modality.
As an MSW intern, she interned with an equine assisted therapy program for those with complex trauma.
Additional Experience:
While in formal and ongoing education, Dara has found a passion for animal assisted therapy, specifically equine assisted therapy. Dara had a fulfilling opportunity as an MSW intern to intern with an equine assisted therapy program for those with complex trauma. Dara has found a real love and passion for combining her background as an equestrian with her new found interest in helping those with trauma.
Studies have found that horses have shown to be the best animals to use when working with clients with trauma due to horses being vulnerable animals of prey and a great example of "fight or flight". Dara hopes to one day be able to utilize her skills as an animal lover, equestrian and social worker to offer traditional mental health counseling as well as equine assisted therapy while specializing in trauma.
