Lou Eckart, Ph.D.
I am a licensed psychologist and health care provider. I received my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Cincinnati in 1988 and have been licensed in Massachusetts since 1989. I have been a member of the American Psychological Association (APA) since 1990.
While in Cincinnati, I completed internships in pediatric psychology, and neuropsychological assessment of children, at the Cincinnati Center for Developmental Disabilities (CCDD) at Children’s Hospital Medical Center, and at the Children’s Psychiatric Center. I also received pre-doctoral training in adult neuropsychology at University Hospital and worked as an assistant to a neuropsychologist at the Veteran’s Administration hospital.
In Boston, I completed an internship in pediatric psychology at Franciscan Children’s Hospital, with an emphasis on providing evaluations and treatment for children with developmental disabilities and neurological impairment.
I worked with the Neonatal Neurology Program at Children’s Hospital in Boston, providing developmental evaluations of infants and toddlers. While there, I was on the faculty of Harvard Medical School from 2001 through 2003.
My experience includes working as a child and family therapist in a community health center in Boston (Neponset Health Center). I have also worked closely for many years with the evaluation teams of several Massachusetts public school districts, helping children to get the appropriate special educational services. I also work with agencies which provide services to adults with disabilities, such as the Department of Developmental Services (DDS) and the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission (MRC).
Because I have worked in diverse settings including hospitals, community health centers, and schools, I have experience in serving people of all ages, with a range of developmental needs.
