Neal McGrath

  • (617) 959-1010

About

Neal McGrath, Ph.D. is a nationally recognized neuropsychologist in the area of sports concussion. He has practiced in the Boston area for the last 35 years, specializing in the evaluation and rehabilitation of traumatic brain injuries, and founded Sports Concussion New England in 2005. Dr. McGrath and his colleagues are on the medical staff at Emerson Hospital through which they also provide neuropsychological services for the Cantu Concussion Center in Concord, Massachusetts. He is a Consulting Neuropsychologist for the NeuroRestorative Acquired Brain Injury Program, the Massachusetts Statewide Head Injury Program, and the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission.

At Neuropsychology New England we are in-network providers with several insurances and can accept some other insurance plans with out-of-network benefits. We are also providers for the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission (MRC). We accept some workers compensation coverage and some automobile insurance plans. Our office manager Debra Petrie will be happy to discuss your insurance coverage with you and to contact your insurer to verify your benefits and obtain their authorization for services. Call Deb at 617-959-1010 or email her at dpetrie@neuropsychnewengland.com.

We can arrange for affordable payment plans for those clients who would like to use our services and do not have insurance coverage we accept. It is important to understand that nearly all health insurance plans cover neuropsychological evaluation related to injury or illness but not for educational purposes only.

He has also collaborated on clinical research for the Traumatic Brain Injury Model Systems Grant at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital. He currently serves on the Massachusetts Department of Public Health’s Clinical Advisory Committee which has assisted with the development, implementation, and updating of departmental regulations for the state’s concussion safety law.
