Speech-Language Pathologist, Beyond Words: a creative approach to pediatric speech and language therapy

About

Shelby Gitlin, M.S., CCC-SLP, has worked in private, public and medical settings providing speech and language services. She is also a speech language pathologist for the Newton Public Schools. She has provided diagnostic and therapeutic services to clients of various ages dealing with communication disorders including, but not limited to: apraxia/dyspraxia, articulation, auditory processing, expressive language, fluency, receptive language, social pragmatic and word retrieval skills.


Shelby has coordinated and provided direct and indirect services to clients; administered evaluations; coordinated and supervised clinical staff; chaired and participated in IEP Team meetings; planned programs for a variety of settings; developed and implemented individual and group client treatment plans; and written and administered home and community-based support plans for clients and their families. She has provided in-services/ informational lectures to parents, educators, colleagues and has most recently been asked to speak at the National Organization of Disorders of the Corpus Callosum Conference (NODCC). She serves people in Natick and surrounding communities.


Shelby has received the following awards, licenses and certifications:

-Award for Continuing Education from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)

-License, Speech Language Therapy from Massachusetts

-License as an educator from Massachusetts

- Certificate of Appreciation, Newton Parent Advisory Council for Special Education

-Certificate of Clinical Competence, ASHA
