About

Susan Shapiro, is an educational consultant, special education advocate, speech-language pathologist and special education surrogate parent. Susan has been a special education advocate and consultant since 2016 and has over 30 years of experience working with students, families, educators, specialists, and administrators in a  public-school setting. Susan currently serves on the SPaN board of directors.  She is a member of the American Speech Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) and the MA Speech Language and Hearing Association. Susan maintains currency in the fields of special education and speech-language pathology through professional workshops and courses.  Susan looks forward to supporting and empowering parents/legal guardians of school aged children with learning challenges.

Susan Shapiro, president of Speaking of Ability, Inc., provides educational consultancy, special education advocacy and speech-language consulting services. Susan is a speech-language pathologist with more than 30 years experience working with students, families, educators, specialists and administrators in the public schools.  Susan seeks to empower and support families to make informed decisions. She strives to work collaboratively with parents and school teams in order to achieve the best possible educational outcomes for school aged students with disabilities.
